Testimonials

I am an historian and Heffers is simply the best place to get books in my subject. I have been shopping at Heffers since 1978 (and in the 1960s as a child) and it has been magnificent throughout those decades. And the staff know their stock! They order themselves - this is no chain bookstore. Above all Heffers has continuity in staff. Just consider Richard Reynolds, who has been at Heffers for over 40 years and is recognised publicly since he is the chair of numerous national book awards in his field.

This is the best bookstore I have been to in a long time. Not only are there books on nearly every conceivable subject, they have an excellent, extensive games section with both classics and new releases. Downstairs you will also find sheet music and CDs. In the far back of the store is a cozy children's section with everything from Shakespeare to Harry Potter in formats sure to engage.

Heffers: the great Cambridge bookseller

Heffers has been trading in Cambridge since 1876. Now part of the Blackwell's family, we are located opposite Trinity College and sell an amazing array of fiction and non-fiction titles - plus music and stationery and the probably the best range of board games in the country! We also have our own dedicated Children's department; a lovely bright space filled with thousands of books.  Our friendly booksellers are on hand to help you with your choices if you're not sure where to start. We also have a fantastic year-round events programme, featuring both well-known and debut authors, children's activities and games nights.

No trip to the city is complete without visiting Heffers!

(We love bricks and mortar bookshops but if you can't get here in person, you can also order online.)
